Addressing the Conference Senator Leyden wished Malta every success on its first
Presidency of European Union for first six Months of 2017.He also welcomed priorities
of Presidency,Development of The Single Market,Migration Crisis and Resettlement
and relocation schemes.Ireland is playing its part as evident from recent decision to
accommodate Syrians in Ballaghaderreen.
Senator Leyden extended a warm welcome to United Kingdom delegates to
Conference Sir.William Cash M.P.and Lord Timothy Boswell and Officials.
He assured U.K. Delegates of Ireland's solidarity with U.K. in securing an
orderly withdrawal from European Union while protecting Ireland's vital interests.
Ireland and U.K. Joined E.C in 1973 now European Union,we share the longest
Border 499 Kilometres,and 1.2 Billion Euro approx per week.We worked
together to secure peace in Northern Ireland under the Good Friday Agreement.
We will work together to ensure an orderly withdrawal of U.K. from European Union,
but U.K.are still an integral part of Europe.
